About eBikeTrusted
eBikeTrusted is the industry platform for light electric vehicles: electric bikes, electric dirt bikes and electric scooters, the safety standards they are built to, the rules for riding them and the brands that make them.
Why eBikeTrusted exists
Electric bikes and scooters have become everyday transport, and the market has grown faster than the information around it. Hundreds of brands sell thousands of models; the same bike is a legal bicycle in one country and an unregistered moped in the next; battery fires have made safety certification a legal requirement in a growing number of places, while certification claims are hard to check. Choosing well, and selling legally, has never been harder.
eBikeTrusted brings it together in one place. Every model is described on the same figures (motor, battery, range, top speed, class), with the safety certifications it carries, what its class and power mean for where it may be ridden, and its official price in each country. Buyers, retailers, fleets and importers can decide on facts.
Built on close knowledge of the industry
eBikeTrusted follows the light electric vehicle industry as a whole: the established bicycle makers, the direct-to- consumer brands that now lead online sales, the manufacturers in China and across Asia who build most of the world's frames, motors and battery packs, the testing laboratories and the regulators. That understanding shapes what we cover, how we compare models and what we treat as reliable.
The database is tracked and maintained continuously. Models, specifications and prices are kept current market by market as brands launch and retire them, and the rules for each market are reviewed against their official sources.
Our standards
- Genuine products from their brands. eBikeTrusted lists vehicles their brands sell through official channels, and leaves out accessories, kits, kids' toys, refurbished units and bundles.
- Comparable specifications. Power, battery, range, speed and weight in the same units for every brand, imperial with metric alongside.
- Certification, stated or verified. A certification the brand states is shown as stated; one we have matched in the certifier's records is shown as verified, with its number and date.
- Rules with sources. Every rule links to the law or official source it was checked against.
- Independence. Suppliers cannot pay to change facts or rankings. A supplier profile adds information about the company; it never changes the order or the content of comparisons.
